This "classic hotel" Downtown is an "oldie but goodie" that impresses with its "stunning" "opulent lobby" and the "polished" English Grill (which "offers a great selection of bourbons", of course); gratified guests also praise personnel who "go out of their way", but doubters demur that, though "comfortable", the recently refurbished rooms seem "not as upscale as advertised."

Paid for parking in next door garage.
Historic hotel with a beautiful lobby. The rooms were clean, somewhat small which is typical for many older hotels, but the bathroom itself was surprisingly large. Was impressed that the floor maid filled my ice bucket when I asked her where to go for it and refused a tip when I offered it to her. Brunch was good. Asked for king sized bed and got a very small queen.
4 star expectations, 2 star execution. I've had better experiences at Hampton Inn. This visit suffered from a gap in high expectations.

The staff was very professional and accommodating.
Walls were too thin. Adjoining rooms made us hear conversations from rooms on either side.
In general, a quality 4 Star hotel. Good service, clean, and close to entertainment and fine dining in Louisville.

Lobby was beautiful.
Room had dirty trashcan, outdated bathroom, and the décor.
The Brown is a beautiful historical hotel. I take this in consideration regarding room decor. However, banana peeling in trash can in room upon check in and extension cords laying in clear view took away the otherwise tranquil ambiance.
